How CMs Are Preserving the Floor Truss & I-Joist Market - Component Manufacturers Only
Protecting the floor truss market for component manufacturers has been a significant priority for SBCA in recent years. In the next installment of SBCA’s Workshop Series, Executive Director Kirk Grundahl will review the results of recent ASTM E119 testing conducted independently by Underwriters Laboratory (UL) and NGC Testing Services (NGC), which confirm what UL has said in its 2012 report that all unprotected structural floor assemblies should be protected with a 15-minute membrane as provided by a ½” gypsum wallboard membrane ceiling. Learn about SBCA’s efforts alongside members across the country to communicate the facts about this issue, the artificial competitive advantages created and the risk management aspects with respect to using 2x10’s, Flak Jacket or any ICC-ES 50% design load “equivalency” solution.
