Attributes of a Visionary Safety Leader

As business leaders, we are constantly sending clear direction to our employees and colleagues. When it comes to workplace safety, people watch our actions as much as they hear our words, if not more. We need to make sure our actions match our words and values as much as possible to create an injury-free safety culture. In this webinar, we’ll talk about those actions and the attributes that make safety more than just words, including personal belief development and maturation, habits of visionary safety leaders, how to engage your employees in safety, organizational change approaches, and servant leadership.

The keynote speaker at the BCMC 2019 Safety Summit, Joe Wheatley helped establish EnPro Learning System (ELS) and leads the management consulting group. Joe has held various leadership positions in manufacturing, engineering and EHS (Environmental, Health and Safety) within the electronic, semiconductor, biomedical, metal working, plastics and chemical industries. He led EnPro's safety programs to a world class level, being the only three time recipient of America’s Safest Company.  Joe has been instrumental in development of EnPro Learning System’s cultural development approach, behavior based tools and practices.  

Joe is a regular keynote speaker at safety events including the National Safety Council in 2014, Manufacturers Alliance, and other trade organizations, as well as a past advisor on the Liberty Mutual Loss Control advisory board and a current member of the Wells Fargo Insurance Client Advisory Council. He has published articles on safety organizational change and safety culture in prominent publications. Joe received a B.S. in Chemical Engineering from Florida State University, a M.S. in Environmental Management from Florida Institute of Technology, and an Executive MBA from Queens University, and is a licensed Professional Engineer.
